Common Problems and Effective Solutions for urban benches

Do you have any street benches with a wooden top and a metal frame?

Yes, we do offer street benches with a wooden top and a metal frame. These are one of our most requested combinations because they give you the natural look and comfort of wood with the structural strength of metal.

Our metal frames are typically made from heavy-gauge steel or cast aluminum. Steel frames are powder-coated to resist rust, scratches, and UV fading. Cast aluminum is lighter and naturally corrosion-resistant, so it is a good choice for coastal or high-moisture areas. The wooden tops are usually built from durable species like teak, ipe, red cedar, or pressure-treated pine. Each wood type has a slightly different appearance and maintenance level, but all are suitable for outdoor use when properly sealed.

The seat slats are spaced to allow rainwater to drain quickly and air to move between the boards. That small gap makes a big difference in preventing warping, cracking, and rot over time. The edges are typically rounded or eased for comfort, and the hardware is recessed or tamper-resistant to reduce vandalism.

These benches work well for parks, streetscapes, school campuses, transit stops, shopping centers, and public plazas. You can choose from backless benches or benches with a backrest, and many models can be customized with armrests, center dividers, or engraved plaques. Standard lengths are usually 4 feet, 5 feet, and 6 feet, but custom lengths are available on request.

For installation, you can choose surface-mount legs for concrete pads or sidewalks, or in-ground legs for soil and landscaped areas. Surface-mounted models include pre-drilled feet for anchor bolts. In-ground models have extended legs that are set into concrete footings for extra security.

Finishes are flexible. The metal frame commonly comes in black, dark bronze, silver, green, or custom colors. The wood can be left unfinished to weather naturally, or it can receive a clear sealer or tinted stain. If you are matching existing street furniture, we can often arrange custom powder coating for larger orders.

Maintenance is simple. Check the bolts once or twice a year and clean the wood with mild soap and water. If the surface starts to look dry, a light sanding and a fresh coat of wood oil or sealer will restore the color and protection. Touch-up paint is available for the metal frame if it gets scratched.

Most stock models ship within 5 to 10 business days. Custom finishes, wood species, or dimensions may add two to three weeks to the lead time. We can ship single benches or palletized quantities, and we can provide a freight quote once we know the delivery location.

If you tell me the length, mounting type, wood species, and whether you want a backrest or armrests, I can recommend a few models and send you pricing with photos and drawings. But in short: yes, wooden top with a metal frame is absolutely available, and it is a great choice for durable public seating.
