We know it is hard to judge color, texture, and durability from a website photo, so we are happy to send small bench material swatches or cut-offs of popular outdoor bench materials like teak, powder-coated aluminum, recycled plastic lumber, and stainless steel.
Here is how it works. For residential customers in the continental U.S., you can request free samples of up to five bench materials at no charge. Just fill out the sample request form on our website, pick the materials or finishes you are comparing, and we will mail your material samples within 2–3 business days. The samples are about 2 x 2 inches or 3 x 1 inches depending on the material, which is enough to see the real color and feel the surface texture.
A few honest caveats. For international requests or large trade accounts that need full-size sample boards, we may ask you to cover shipping or a refundable deposit. Some premium or custom finishes—like specialty marine-grade teak or custom powder-coat colors—cannot be sent for free because of cost, but we can often provide a small painted chip instead.
If you are deciding between materials for a commercial project, we recommend requesting material samples of at least two bench materials in the same color family so you can compare them under your local lighting. Keep in mind that outdoor bench materials change slightly with weather and UV exposure, so a sample gives you a good baseline, but not a perfect prediction of how it ages.
